Electricity Board employees resort to flash strike
All employees of electricity department across Andhra Pradesh today resorted to a flash strike demanding implementation of pay revision proposals as agreed upon.
Thousands of employees from APTransco, AP Genco and the four Discoms have launched their strike from 0600 hours in all 23 districts in the state.
Alleging that they had been betrayed by the managements of respective utilities , all the 29 Employees unions of the power sector have launched their strike by staging dharna in front of Vidyut Soudha building at Kharatabad here.
Though the state government agreed to revision of scales in APTransco, Ap Genco and Discoms, employees are demanding that an agreement be reached between the government and Employees Unions, according to employees leader Sai Babu.
Recently, officials have agreed to give 27.5 per cent fitment to the employees. They also agreed to give two special increments to those whose service was below 15 years and three special increments to employees whose services is more than 15 years.
When the matter was taken up with the governor, he refused to enter into an agreement with us, the leader said.
According to reports reaching here, employees began their strike at Palvancha KTPS in Khammam district and also Kakatiya Thermal power centre (KTPC) in Warangal district in the morning in protest against the State Government's refusal to make an agreement with them on new Pay Revision Commission (PRC).
