The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Somesh Kumar today said the innovative programme 'early bird scheme' introduced recently with regard to collection of property tax has yielded good results and GHMC had collected Rs 111 crores in a span of 15 days without any serious efforts.

Keeping in view of the good results of the scheme, the Commissioner suggested the Hyderabad district Collector Mr Kukesh Kumar Meena and Engineer-in-Chief to take up such innovative scheme for housing also so that the beneficiaries will come forward to pay their contribution and can also be completed in a phased manner.

The Commissioner, who conducted a review meeting on housing with district collector and other officials here, also directed directed Collector and senior officials of the housing to take up a special drive to create awareness about the housing scheme benefits in order to motivate all the beneficiaries to come forward to pay their beneficiary contribution and also to conduct camps at regular intervals to verify the documentation of the beneficiaries to allot the houses on priority.
