Security forces unearthed two hideouts and recovered war-like stores in twin districts of north Kashmir, a defence ministry spokesman said here this evening.


Lt Colonel N N Joshi said during early hours today, based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of a cache in Poshwani area of Pattan, District Baramulla, a joint search operation was launched by Army and state police.

During the search of the area, Security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition which included 2 AK 47 rifles along with 3 magazines and 79 rounds of ammunition, 3 rounds of RPG, 1 round of 51mm RPG, 1 UBGL, 13 rounds of UBGL, 3 IEDs circuit along with approximately 100 grams of explosive, 4 hand grenades and other equipment.

Lt Col Joshi said in another joint operation, a hideout was busted in Okhapani forests in Handwara area of District Kupwara.

The huge quantity of administrative stores which included over 100 kgs of dry ration, cooking oil, condiments and other stores required for construction of hideout.

However, no one was arrested, he said.
