Nagaland CM meets Modi in Delhi
Nagaland Chief Minister and newly elected Lok Sabha member Neiphiu Rio greeted Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi at Gujarat Bhawan in New Delhi yesterday as the BJP prepares a blueprint of the new council of ministers within the next few days.
According to sources here today, Mr Rio congratulated Mr Modi for leading the BJP and NDA to a historic victory in the recently concluded parliamentary elections.
Modi also complimented Rio for his landslide win for the Lok Sabha seat from Nagaland. Those who also accompanied Rio included Nagaland Minister of Planning and Chief Minister-designate of Nagaland T R Zeliang and other cabinet ministers from the state.
Notably, during the election rally for Neiphiu Rio in Dimapur, BJP MP from Guwahati Bijoya Chakravarty had assured of a cabinet berth if Rio was elected.
Rio had re-aligned with the NDA in 2013, after a brief courtship with the UPA. In this regard, Rio had also met BJP president Rajnath Singh on several occasions and also feted Modi prior to the Lok Sabha election, as the Convener of the North East Regional Political Front (NERPF).
