Varun wins from higher margin than cousin Rahul Gandhi
BJP candidate from Sultanpur Varun Gandhi and cousin of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi won with a bigger margin in comparison to his cousin in this Lok Sabha election.
Congress vice-president and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi has won from Amethi Lok Sabha seat by defeating his nearest rival Smriti Irani of BJP by a margin of 1,07,488 votes.
In the 2009 election, Varun had contested from Pilibhit parliamentary constituency, which he left for his mother Maneka Gandhi in this poll.
He defeated his nearest rival Pawan Pandey of the BSP by a margin of 1,78,889 votes. Varun received 71,401 more votes in comparison to Rahul.
However, the previous trends indicate that Rahul has always won from Amethi by a margin of over three lakh votes in 2004 and 2009 general election.
