Mother blesses Modi following his emphatic win
Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi met his mother Hiraben at her residence here on Friday, and sought her blessings following his emphatic win in the 2014 general elections.
Modi touched his mother's feet and accepted her blessings and sweets for his win. Hiraben looked visibly happy as she applied the traditional vermillion mark on her son's forehead.
Earlier, as the results started pouring and were giving a clear lead to his son and the BJP, Modi mother said: "He has my blessings and he will lead to India's development."
Latest results aired on television channels show the opposition National Democratic Alliance leading in 332 seats (+ 191), UPA leading in 48 seats (-171) and others leading in 142 (-28) The leads are available for 538 out of the 543 seats that are up for grabs
Counting of votes to elect representatives to the 16th Lok Sabha and four State Assemblies -- Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim -- began at 8 a.m. this morning amid tight security.
The exit polls have projected that the BJP and its allies would touch the half-way mark in the 543-member Lok Sabha. Most polls show the incumbent UPA regime getting between 101 and 148 seats.
