For the first time after the historic decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will campaign in the region to boost the electoral fortunes of her party.


She will address an election rally later in the day today at Guntur, the very venue where BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, addressing a public meeting last evening,targeted the 'Maa-Beta Sarkar' in Delhi (mother-son government).

Union Minister Jairam Ramesh and prominent state party leaders will address the rally along with Ms Gandhi.

Meanwhile, leaders of other political parties, including TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu stepped up their campaigning in the region which will go to the polls on May 7.
