People of this city in Karnataka today took out a silent protest march to demand the government put an end to gun culture and incerasing incidents of crime.

The city had witnessed six shootout incidents with five of them involving using illegal weapons, while the other resulted in killing of a police Sub-inspector in a crossfire.

The activists under the banner Hyderabad-Karnataka Action committee today staged a mute protest march against the increasing rowdyism, shoot out and other crime in the city and demanded the government take immediate action against the culprits.

The protesters took out a procession and staged dharna in town hall in front of Mahatama Gandhi statue.

They took to 'mute protest' against the increasing crime incidents like rowdyism, use of illegal weapon, dacoities, robberies, chain snatching and murders in the city.

HKAC President Laxman Dasti alleged that in a recent months the crime in the city was increasing as well as in entire district. 'Policing has been ineffective. Even the district administration has not acted to ensure safety of the people and stop crime. This calls for a major debate,' he said.

He appealed to the youth to ensure peace in the society fitht against crime. This will help keep up the name of Gulbarga which is a prominent destination for Sufi and Sharana culture.

The protesters later submitted a memorandum to district deputy commissioner and take action against the culprits
