Campaign reaches feverish pitch
With just a day left for the campaigning for the first phase of the last general elections in the
UNI ted Andhra Pradesh,major political parties are deploying their top leaders to make last minute efforts to woo the voters.
Congress President UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi,in her second round of campaign in Telangana, will address two public meetings in Rangareddy and Medak districts this afternoon.
Ms Gandhi will address public meetings at Chevella (Rangareddy district) at 1400 hours and at Andole (Medak district) at 1600 hours today.
During their whirlwind tours,top leaders of various political parties including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP's Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi,
UNI on Ministers Gulabh Nabi Azad, Jairam Ramesh, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, Senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj, M Venkaih Naidu, Prakash Javadekar, Goa chief minister Pannikar, among others, already addressed a series of election rallies or conducted road shows in Telangana in the last few weeks.
Prominent state leaders including TDP President N Chandrababu naidu and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao also undertook hectic campaigning in the region.
The polling is scheduled to be held in 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana on April 30 for which the election commission has started making elaborate arrangements to ensure good percentage of voting.
