No permission for landing of Venkaiah's helicopter
BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu expressed anger over the indifferent attitude of officials in giving permission for landing of helicopter, which he was using in election campaigning and appealed the officials to be liberal in implementing the norms.
Addressing a press conference here today, he said officials did not give permission to land to his helicopter in Kaikaluru in West Godavari district. he regretted that there was no coordination between officials, resulting in, troubling the leaders on election campaign.
His helicopter pilot had taken permission of ATC in Chennai but the officials in West Godavari district did not give permission to his helicopter to land in Kaikaluru.
Mr Venkaiah went to Kaikaluru on road, where he was told that there was big space,enough to land four helicopters and wondered why permission was not given.
When he contacted an official on phone, Venkaiah Naidu was told that the officer was performing pooja at 9.30 am and had informed the matter to the state Election Commission,who directed officials concerned to be liberal in following norms.
"I have been flying on helicopters for 30 years, but have never seen denial of permission for landing helicopter. I have not faced such situation even in Bihar. I feel very bad at what happened today" Mr Naidu deplored.
The BJP senior leader lamented that he was a heart patient and could not travel on road for hours. But the official's apathy compelled him to travel by road in Narasapuram Parliamentary constituency, West Godavari district.
The officials are concentrating on seizure of money and liquor, ignoring the other duties, he pointed out and added that he was not blaming anybody but only exposing what happened.
