Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Shanta Kumar has pulled up the Congress for maintaining silence over the issue of black haven in foreign banks.

The senior leader assured to bring the money back after formation of NDA government in the Centre.

Addressing the media persons here yesterday, Mr Kumar released a document on the basis of a magazine story in which former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi allegedly had Swiss bank account.

"A Hasan Ali who had Rs 1,34,000 crore in 10 bank accounts in Swiss banks has stated that all the money in his foreign account belongs to the leader of Congress party," Mr Kumar alleged.

"Including former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, some heads of states have been charged by the magazine for keeping huge amount as black haven in Swiss bank," the BJP Leader said, alleging that the former prime minister had about Rs 13,200 crore in the Swiss banks.

However, Congress leaders have denied of this account, claimed the BJP leader and questioned the ruling party at the Centre that if the article published has wrongly named Gandhi for keeping foreign bank account then why the Congress did not come forward to slap libel case against the magazine which had also published photographs of Rajiv Gandhi along with other international leaders, he added.

Mr Kumar also released a copy of the Swiss based magazine in the press conference containing picture of Rajiv Gandhi along with others.

The government of India was among 200 nations which had been ratified by the UN Convention against corruption, Mr Kumar said, adding that it had provision to take back the black money stashed in Swiss bank.

Including the US, 20 nations had taken back this illicit money kept inside Swiss bank but India despite having Rs 30,20,000 crore never pressed to follow UN intervention, he said.

After coming to power Narendra Modi government would be able to bring back this amount, the BJP leader claimed.

Mr Kumar was on two days tour of Shimla and Mandi parliamentary constituency canvassing for BJP candidate Verinder Kashayap and Ram Sworop, respectively.
