BJP Prime Ministerial Candidate and party's star campaigner Narendra Modi will address his first-ever election rally in this district on April 17.


BJP sources here today said Mr Modi would arrive in a helicopter from Coimbatore at 1030 hrs and address an election campaign at a venue located near the District Collector Office.

He would leave Ramanathapuram at 1130 hrs. Mr Modi had announced in his election campaign at Chennai recently that 'if voted to power, BJP would protect the fishermen from the recurring attacks by navies of neighbouring countries.' He is expected to give an assurance on protecting livelihood of the fisher folk of Ramanathapuram, who were often victimised and attacked by Srilankan navy.

He is also likely to take up the Sethu Samudram Project, the sources added.
