2 teachers suspended campaigning for ruling BJD candidate
Puri District Election Officer Dhiren Kumar Patnaik today placed two primary school teacher leaders under suspension for violating the Model Code of Conduct.
Bijay Kumar Mohanty, primary teacher working in Bali Harijan school of the city and Ramnarayan Mishra of Katyayani model upper primary school at Chalisibatia under the Sadar block, were suspended for their active involvement in the election campaign of the ruling BJD candidate.
According to reports, action was taken against the two teachers on the complaint of Chinmay Mishra, representative of Umaballav Rath, congress candidate for Puri Assembly seat.
On receiving the complaint, the District Election Officer asked the District Education Officer and the Circle Inspector of schools to verify the allegations.
The teachers were suspended and disciplinary proceedings were initiated against them after the inquiry found that both of them had organised meetings of teachers of their association at their union office and urged the members to work for the ruling party nominee.
