Despite rain, the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was through for traffic.

A traffic police spokesman said highway was open for light vehicles.

However, heavy vehicles will ply from Srinagar to Jammu, he said, adding no heavy vehicle was allowed from Jammu.

Heavy vehicles will continue to ply only alternate days
from Srinagar and Jammu till further orders.

Meanwhile, dozens of far-flung and remote areas, including those near the Line of Control (LoC) remained cut off with their respective district headquarters due to accumulation of fresh snow on roads.
