The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Ramky Infrastructures, Hyderabad for allegedly using fake steel under the SAIL tag for construction purpose.

A team of SAIL officials filed a written complaint in police station Pantha Chowk against the Ramky Infrastructures, engaged in multi-crore project of expansion of Srinagar- Jammu highway.

The complaint alleged that the company is using sub-standard steel under the SAIL tag.

A senior police officer said FIR was lodged under section 420 and investigation has been taken up.

The SAIL officials also lodged a similar complaint with Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution ( CA&PD).

Hyderabad based Ramky is in a joint venture with China's Jiangshu Provincial Transportation Engineering Group Company. It is executing the Srinagar-Banihal portion of the highway involving a cost of Rs 1625 crore.
