Kozhikode Corpn wants adequate aid to kin of mishap victim
The Kozhikode Corpoation today urged the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) to grant adequate compensation to next of kin of a person killed in LPG tanker accident at West Hill, near here, two days ago.
The decision to seek compensation for family of deceased autorickshaw driver Uppukandathil Ravi, 40, a native of Kunduparamba, was taken a meeting presided over by Mayor, Prof A K Premajam, here.
The meeting also urged the District Collector to initiate steps to acquire land at West Hill Chungam Bent, an accident prone area.
The Corporation demanded adequate grant from Road Safety Fund to undertake rescue operations in the locality.
The Deputy Mayor, the Additional District Magistrate, representing the District Collector, Assistant Police Commissioner (Traffic North), Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), among others, attended the meet.
The accident occurred when the tanker overturned and fell on the autorickshaw parked on the road side.
