Meet the woman who is Oz town's only single under 40!

Melbourne, Aug 27 : In a place where men outnumber the women by 10 to 1, Dani Walker has come out to be the only lady under 40, who is still single in Nar Nar Goon, Victoria.

Walker, who had moved to Nar Nar Goon this year and was dubbed as the "phantom lady", revealed that she had not noticed that there was an overabundance of single men.

"I've been single for a fair while. I suppose when I've been down to the pub I've been there with my three brothers, so I'm pretty oblivious to the men," News.com.au quoted her as saying.

"I'm a sociable little munchkin, so I'll talk to anyone. I haven't really been looking too hard, I suppose," she said.

It was discovered that the small Gippsland town has one of the highest ratios of single men to single women in Australia, with 12 single men in their 30s for the one single woman.

The research was published in a new book by demographer Bernard Salt, Man Drought and Other Social Issues.

It urges singles to "play the numbers game" when looking for a partner.

Walker, 30, who was unmasked as the Goon's female singleton on August 26, has spent years visiting her father and stepmother in Nar Nar Goon, where they have lived for more than 20 years.

Even if she hooks up with one of the single 30-somethings in Nar Nar Goon, there will still be 11 others looking for Ms Right.

"I'm still single so, yeah, there is a shortage," said Josh Crowley, 24.

Dating agency boss Justin Parfitt had a few tips for Nar Nar Goon's single men.

"Just feel good about yourself. Women love being around charismatic people," Parfitt adviced.

Ironically, Nar Nar Goon has a disproportionate number of single women over the age of 50.
