NDMC Chairperson Keshav Chandra will inaugurate the "Annual Winter Rose Show", organised by the civic agency in association with The Rose Society of India, at India-Africa Friendship Rose Garden, Shanti Path, on Saturday, an official said.

The show will display more than 70 varieties of roses in 22 classes and 175 sections of about 1,250 exhibits by participants from across the country.

Prizes will be awarded to the best exhibits during a distribution ceremony on Sunday, said an official statement.

Visitors can enjoy the show from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, it said.

Participants from various organisations such as NDMC, PGI Chandigarh and Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), commonly known as the Pusa Institute, will take part in the show by exhibiting roses in different classes.

The main attractions in the show will include different types of roses, which include Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, Miniature, Polyantha, and other varieties.

The Winter Rose Show promises to be a visual delight for visitors, offering an opportunity to witness a wide range of rose varieties competing in both vases and pots.

The event will also provide a refreshing and stress-relieving experience, allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty of the rose garden and enjoy the magnificent blooms.

The rose, celebrated as one of nature’s most beautiful creations, is admired worldwide for its endless variety of shapes, sizes, colours, fragrances, and foliage. It has long been regarded as a symbol of love, beauty, and elegance.

More than 70 varieties and 1250 exhibits? Wah! This is the kind of cultural event we need more of in Delhi. A perfect weekend plan away from the mall crowds. Hope the NDMC maintains the garden well after the show too.

While I appreciate the event, I hope the NDMC is mindful of the waste generated. Single-use plastics for bouquets or food stalls should be avoided. Let's celebrate nature without harming it.

The inclusion of IARI and PGI is fantastic. It's not just a flower show, it's a showcase of horticultural science and dedication. The Hybrid Tea roses are always spectacular. Looking forward to it!

My nani used to grow beautiful desi gulab in her village. Seeing this article brought back those memories. The value-added products display is interesting - rose gulkand, rose water... hope they have some for sale!

The timing is perfect for the winter season. The roses will be at their best. A "stress-relieving experience" as the article says is much needed. A simple, beautiful event for a change.
