He said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Bengaluru stampede. He added that the state government did not request

"The CM has ordered a magisterial inquiry...Let the report of the inquiry come to the government, and if there were any lapses, then action will be initiated against whoever is found responsible," he said.

The incident occurred near the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium when thousands of fans gathered to get a glimpse of RCB players after the franchise won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The Karnataka government announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased killed in the stampede. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed a press conference and said the government would also provide free treatment to the injured.

This is heartbreaking 💔. Why wasn't crowd control planned better? RCB is one of the most popular teams in IPL and they should have anticipated this. The compensation is good but can't bring back lives. Hope the inquiry fixes accountability.

As a Bengaluru resident, I'm shocked at how this was handled. The stadium area is always crowded - authorities should have deployed more police. The government saying they didn't organize it sounds like passing the buck. Everyone failed these fans today.

The CM is right - no one should politicize this tragedy. But 15 days for inquiry is too long! We need immediate safety audits of all stadiums across India. Our population density demands better crowd management systems.

My cousin was injured in this stampede. While the free treatment is appreciated, what about trauma counseling? The psychological impact on survivors isn't being addressed. Also 10 lakh compensation seems very low considering current costs of living.

This isn't just about RCB or KCA - it's about systemic failure. We've seen stampedes at religious places, now at sports events. When will we learn? Need national guidelines for mass gatherings. Condolences to all affected families 🙏

While the tragedy is undeniable, let's also appreciate that the government is taking responsibility with compensation and inquiry. Many countries would just offer thoughts and prayers. Hope this leads to concrete safety improvements for future events.
