Chappell Roan openly shared her nervousness about headlining the rock-heavy Corona Capital festival. She wasn't sure if the rock-leaning crowd would connect with her pop music style. Singer-songwriter Chappell Roan was not expecting the crowd's response to her performance at a rock-heavy festival in Mexico City, and she is being honest about her experience about which she was really nervous.

The ‘Pink Pony Club’ hitmaker has admitted to fans she was "quite nervous" about stepping onstage at Corona Capital 2025, as the only pop headliner, reports ‘Female First UK’.

Foo Fighters and Linkin Park also headlined the event with the lineup also including the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, Deftones, Garbage and Weezer, and she was stunned by how the audience vibed with her set.

Reflecting on the show, Chappell penned on Instagram, “I was quite nervous for Mexico City because I wasn’t sure if the crowd would vibe with me because it’s such a rock leaning festival and I was like, will ppl still like me if I’m pop? (sic)".

She continued, “But omg the crowd was so wonderful and I felt so loved and supported! So so sick I got to do this thank you for having me. l will continue practicing my Spanish every day. Gracias! (sic)".

As per ‘Female First UK’, she included a few pictures from the performance and her custom Alexander McQueen "screaming banshee" ensemble. The singer has had a challenging year amid struggles with her mental health and recently admitted she wasn't going to do a US tour until she was reminded of her purpose, to "bring queer people joy and tell them that it’s OK”.

Speaking candidly to fans at her show in Pasadena last month, she said, “I wasn’t gonna do a US tour until the very last minute, I decided to do one, and I’m so glad I did. It’s so fun. This job is so awesome. Thank you for making it awesome. Everything made sense this year, Why I do this. Last year, I was really questioning, ‘Why am I doing this to myself? I’m so sad. I feel so left out in public. I feel so awkward all the time’. And I always felt like, ‘Why am I putting myself through this? If this feels so, if this is taking so much away from me, what is this for?’”.

She continued, “And then I started doing shows again, and it all made sense that it was to literally bring queer people joy and tell them that it’s OK. There’s so many things in the world that are so ‘f*** you’ and like, then there is this. The only thing that matters anymore is joy to me. And protecting that, and peace and safety. So I hope you know that when you are here, you are safe, and I want you here, you can be whoever you are tonight”.

Thanking her loyal fans, she said, “You’re cherished for everything that you are. Even if you’re not queer, I hope you know that I include you. This isn’t just for the gays. Thank you for being here and supporting me and supporting each other. This is the biggest headline show I’ve ever had. So thank you”.

Respect for her trying Spanish and connecting with Mexican fans! Shows how music transcends language barriers. Reminds me of when international artists try Hindi phrases during India concerts 😊

While I appreciate her message of inclusivity, I wish she'd acknowledge that many artists in India face similar challenges but don't have the same platform or support systems. Still, good to see mental health being discussed.

Breaking genre barriers! This is like when Indian classical musicians perform at rock festivals abroad. Music is universal - glad the rock crowd embraced her pop sound! 🎵

Her focus on bringing joy to queer people is beautiful. In India, we're slowly becoming more accepting, but we need more artists using their platform for positive change like this.

The part about finding purpose through connecting with fans really resonates. Many Indian artists go through similar journeys of self-doubt before finding their true calling. Inspiring story!
