Women's T20 WC 2026 : When and where to watch AUS vs SA, know all details
Manchester, June 12
Australia will kick off their ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a challenging Group 1 clash against South Africa at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The six-time champions enter the tournament as the world's top-ranked T20I side and will be aiming to make a strong start under the leadership of new captain Sophie Molineux. Meanwhile, South Africa, currently ranked fifth in the format, arrive with growing confidence as they continue to establish themselves among the elite teams in women's cricket.
The Proteas will once again be led by Laura Wolvaardt, who captains the side in her second consecutive T20 World Cup. South Africa will hope to carry forward the momentum they have built over recent years and challenge one of the most dominant teams in the history of the competition.
Historically, Australia have enjoyed overwhelming success against South Africa in T20 internationals. The Australians have won nine of the 11 meetings between the two teams, while South Africa have managed just two victories.
Australia's dominance is even more evident on the World Cup stage. The teams have faced each other eight times in Women's T20 World Cup history, with Australia emerging victorious in seven of those contests. South Africa's only win in the tournament came during the 2023 edition.

Watching women's T20 has become a family tradition in our house now. My daughter is absolutely obsessed with Ellyse Perry. It's amazing to see how much the game has grown - from playing in the backyard to filling stadiums. Hope India gets its due in the World Cup too! 🇮🇳
Honestly, I wish the BCCI would promote women's cricket more aggressively. Star Sports and JioHotstar are great but we need more grassroots marketing. Kids need role models like Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur. Australia are just too dominant - 7 wins out of 8 WC matches vs SA is crazy! Still, good luck to both teams.
Remember when people said women's cricket is boring? Those days are long gone. The skill level, the athleticism, the intensity - it's as good as men's cricket now. Sophie Molineux as captain is an interesting choice. She's a smart bowler. Should be a tight contest. Going to order some samosas and settle in for the match! 😄
As a cricket fan from the US, I just discovered women's T20 through streaming. The quality is incredible. Australia look unstoppable but I'm rooting for an upset - South Africa deserve a big win after reaching the final in 2023. Old Trafford always produces great matches. Set your alarms for 7 PM!
Respect to both sides but I'm disappointed with the timing - 7 PM IST on a Saturday is perfect! Yaar, wish we could see more women's matches on free TV. Cricket is supposed to be
