Telangana CEO directs DEOs to speed up SIR digitisation

Telangana's Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy on Tuesday directed all district election officers to expedite the digitisation of enumeration forms and effectively utilise the available time to achieve targets under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision process.
He, along with Additional CEO Vasam Venkateswar Reddy and Deputy CEO G. S. Chary, held a video conference with the Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the District Election Officer of Hyderabad, and all DEOs in the state.
The CEO instructed DEOs to ensure close supervision by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), BLO Supervisors, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for timely completion of SIR activities. He emphasised transparency and proper documentation of meetings with political parties.
Special attention was directed towards urban pockets and Assembly constituencies showing lower progress. DEOs were asked to ensure inclusion of VVIP and VIP electors in the rolls.
"Ensure that BLOs do not insist on physical enumeration forms if electors have already submitted them online. BLOs should also not insist on Aadhaar cards for submission," the CEO said.
He told officials to facilitate electors in submitting forms, promptly address grievances, and carefully verify ASD (Absent, Shifted, Dead) cases while maintaining accurate records.
Officials were asked to strengthen field-level monitoring and coordinate closely with supervisory officers to ensure the smooth implementation of SIR-2026. Rationalisation of polling stations must be completed within the stipulated timeline, he added.
The CEO reviewed district-wise progress on unmapped electors, polling stations with less than 50 per cent progress, and uncollected forms. He instructed DEOs to ensure their districts cross 90 per cent completion of the enumeration process by the end of this week and emphasised thorough verification of "No mapping" electors.
All officials were directed to work in a coordinated manner to ensure smooth and timely completion of SIR-2026. Nodal Officers and members of the Technical Team also attended the video conference.

Finally some accountability! But I hope they focus equally on rural areas, not just Hyderabad and urban pockets. Many villages still face connectivity issues. The 90% target by this week sounds ambitious... let's see how it pans out on the ground.
Transparent documentation of meetings with political parties is a welcome step. This reduces chances of manipulation. But I wonder how strictly they'll enforce the "no physical form" rule for online submissions. In my area, BLOs still demanded hard copies last month. Hope real change happens this time.
Sir, please also address the issue of "No mapping" electors in new apartment complexes. Many residents in my colony are still not mapped properly. Also, the VIP/VVIP inclusion clause should not mean special treatment - everyone's vote should count equally. 🙏
A small suggestion - please create a helpline or WhatsApp number for electors to report BLOs who still insist on physical forms or Aadhaar. Many elderly people are scared to complain directly. Otherwise good progress so far! 👍
As a voter in Hyderabad, I appreciate the emphasis on unmapped electors. My parents' names were missing from the rolls for years despite multiple visits to the ERO office. Hope the 90% target is met, but ground reality often differs from video conference plans. Let's stay optimistic but vigilant.
