"In recent days, the Air Force has destroyed 70 per cent of Iran's steel production capacity - Benjamin Netanyahu"

Tel Aviv, April 3

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday shared operational updates from Iran and Lebanon and informed that Iran's 70 per cent steel production capacity has been destroyed. He highlighted that there is full coordination between the US military and the Israeli Defence Forces.

He also thanked the citizens of Israel for their steadfast support.

He made the remarks in a video message which was shared by the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel.

"Together with our American friends, we are continuing to crush the terrorist regime in Iran. We are eliminating commanders and bombing bridges and infrastructure. In recent days, the Air Force has destroyed 70 per cent of Iran's steel production capacity", Netanyahu said.

Calling it a "tremendous achievement", the Israeli PM said that it deprives the IRGC of "both funding sources and the ability to produce large quantities of weapons".

He further noted that in full coordination between him and President Trump, the IDF and the US military, they would continue to "crush Iran".

He added that while the Iranian regime is weaker than ever, Israel stands stronger than ever.

Sharing operational updates from Lebanon, Netanyahu said in the video message, "In Lebanon, we are continuing to forcefully strike at Hezbollah. We are continuing to expand the security zone and firmly establish it in order to protect the communities of the North."

He lauded the citizens of Israel for standing steadfast and following the instructions of the Home Front Command even on Passover Seder night and urged them to continue to do so.

"With God's help, we will continue to fight, and we will achieve all of our goals. Happy Passover".

Meanwhile, in a series of posts on X, the IDF shared that since the start of operations in Lebanon, the Multi-dimensional Unit struck over 75 Hezbollah targets and eliminated over 40 terrorists.

A senior IDF official in a video message said that the IDF will not give up on the goal of dismantling Hezbollah's weapons and added that it is an ongoing goal to which they are committed and are constantly working to advance the current campaign.

The developments come as the conflict in West Asia has entered its second month now.

The human cost of this "tremendous achievement" is what worries me. Such strikes on industrial infrastructure will cripple the civilian economy and cause immense suffering for ordinary Iranians. War is never a clean solution.

India has strong ties with both Israel and Iran. We need to tread carefully. Our energy security and Chabahar port project are linked to Iran. Hope our diplomacy can help de-escalate tensions for regional peace.

The full coordination with the US military is the key point here. This isn't just an Israel-Iran conflict anymore; it's a broader geopolitical shift. The implications for global trade routes are massive.

While I understand Israel's security concerns, the language of "crushing" another nation is concerning. It sounds more like a quest for total domination than self-defence. A diplomatic solution should be the ultimate goal, not annihilation.

The economic warfare angle is smart. Cutting off funding to IRGC by hitting steel production is a strategic move. However, this escalation risks pulling in more players. Hope it doesn't spiral out of control. 🙏
