Madhya Pradesh on path to prosperity like Gujarat: CM Mohan Yadav

CM Mohan Yadav says Madhya Pradesh is becoming prosperous like Gujarat, citing PM Modi's support, river-linking projects, and agricultural reforms.

"The state is becoming prosperous, much like Gujarat - CM Mohan Yadav"

Bhopal, April 30

Madhya Pradesh is steadily moving towards prosperity and is on track to develop along the lines of Gujarat, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Thursday.

"The state is becoming prosperous, much like Gujarat," Yadav said, crediting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre's support for key development initiatives in the state.

Yadav made the remarks while addressing the 'Krishi Karmayogi' (agricultural worker) orientation training and workshop held at Ravindra Bhawan in Bhopal.

Highlighting major projects, the Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh has received three important river-linking projects that are expected to significantly strengthen water availability and boost the agriculture sector.

He noted that the Ken-Betwa Link Project is benefiting the Bundelkhand region, while the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) project will provide irrigation and water access to several districts in Madhya Pradesh as well as neighbouring Rajasthan.

Yadav said that the Central government has contributed nearly 90 per cent of the total project cost, underlining its commitment to water security, irrigation expansion, and rural development.

He also pointed out that people in several districts of Rajasthan have expressed gratitude to Madhya Pradesh for reaching a consensus on the PKC project and facilitating its progress.

Describing Madhya Pradesh as the "motherland of rivers", the Chief Minister stressed the need for effective utilisation, conservation, and scientific management of water resources.

"Like Gujarat developed with the blessings of Maa Narmada, we are working to utilise Narmada waters to bring prosperity across our state," he said.

Yadav emphasised that conserving water is essential for strengthening the agriculture sector and ensuring long-term sustainability. "Every drop of water is important for farmers and for the future of agriculture," he added.

He also highlighted the government's efforts to modernise agriculture through technology adoption, improved coordination, and better service delivery mechanisms. He said that initiatives such as e-governance, the 'Sarthak' app, improved fertiliser distribution, and stubble management practices are being prioritised.

Referring to the 'Farmer Welfare Year', he said that schemes from 16 departments are being integrated to ensure holistic development of farmers and rural areas through a coordinated approach.

He added that such initiatives and workshops will play a key role in improving agricultural productivity, enhancing farmer incomes, and supporting the rural economy.

The Chief Minister said that sustained focus on water management, infrastructure development, and innovation will help Madhya Pradesh achieve long-term growth and prosperity in the coming years.

Impressive that the Centre is funding 90% of these projects. That's real commitment to rural India. The Krishi Karmayogi initiative sounds promising - we need more ground-level training for farmers, not just top-down schemes.

Comparing MP to Gujarat is ambitious, but let's see if the execution matches. Gujarat's success came from decades of consistent industrial policy and infrastructure - not just water projects. MP needs to focus on creating jobs too, not just irrigation. 🤔

Every drop of water is important indeed! As someone from Rajasthan, I'm grateful MP agreed to the PKC project. Water sharing between states is always tricky, so this consensus is a big deal. Hope both states benefit equally. 🌊

Nice to hear about the Sarthak app and e-governance initiatives for farmers. But we need to ensure these digital tools actually reach small farmers who may not have smartphones. The gap between policy and ground reality is still huge in MP.

"Motherland of rivers" - love that phrase! MP has so much potential with Narmada, Chambal, Betwa, etc. But we need better storage and distribution, not just linking. Those dams and canals often get delayed. Hope this time it's different. 💧
