New Khatu Shyam temple in Barwani will strengthen Sanatan values: CM Mohan Yadav
Bhopal/Barwani, July 1 Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday said that service to the poor and preservation of the state's spiritual heritage are central to India's cultural traditions, asserting that the newly constructed Khatu Shyam temple at Talun in Barwani district would strengthen Sanatan values and inspire future generations.
Addressing the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Khatu Shyam temple and the 21-Kundiya Mahayajna virtually from his official residence, the Chief Minister said the Nimar region has long been known for its rich tradition of saints, culture and folk heritage.
"The land of Nimar, including Barwani, has always been enriched by saints, culture and folk traditions. India's tradition of saints has consistently guided society in the right direction. Serving the poor, the needy and the distressed is true devotion, and society progresses when Dharma and service go hand in hand," Yadav said.
He said the temple would further strengthen this legacy and help connect younger generations with the country's cultural and spiritual heritage.
Describing the occasion as more than just the consecration of a temple, Chief Minister Yadav said it symbolised faith and the resurgence of Sanatan culture.
Referring to Baba Khatu Shyam, he said the deity is worshipped as "Haare Ka Sahara" for offering hope and relief to devotees.
"The consecration of this temple is a celebration of faith and the revival of Sanatan culture. Baba Khatu Shyam's sacrifice for upholding righteousness and public welfare remains an unparalleled example of valour, humility and dedication in Indian culture," the Chief Minister said.
CM Yadav said Baba Khatu Shyam is believed to be an incarnation of Barbarik, who, according to the Mahabharata, offered his head to Lord Krishna in support of righteousness.
He also said the idea of constructing the temple was conceived by Mahant Shashi Giri Ji Maharaj after completing the Narmada Parikrama and was realised with the support of local devotees.
Highlighting the state's efforts to preserve religious and cultural heritage, Yadav said the Madhya Pradesh government is continuously working to conserve ancient heritage sites while promoting religious tourism, which also contributes to the local economy.
He prayed for peace, prosperity, good health and the overall development of the state and its people during the ceremony.

CM Yadav ji always talks about Sanatan values but what about the farmers in MP? Our region needs irrigation projects, not just temples. Having said that, the Khatu Shyam temple is beautiful and will definitely bring tourists. Just wish development was more balanced.
Interesting to see how India balances ancient traditions with modern governance. I'm not familiar with Khatu Shyam but it sounds like a significant cultural event. Always respect how deeply rooted faith is here.
बहुत अच्छा कदम है! मध्य प्रदेश में धार्मिक पर्यटन को बढ़ावा मिलेगा और युवा पीढ़ी को अपनी संस्कृति से जोड़ने में मदद होगी। Baba Khatu Shyam ke darshan ka mera bada sapna hai. Hope to visit soon! 🚩
Reading this from abroad, it's remarkable how temple construction still holds such meaning. The CM's point about connecting younger generations with heritage is important - many NRIs feel disconnected from our roots. Hopefully this temple becomes a place of pilgrimage for all.
While I appreciate the religious sentiment, I think we need to be careful about spending huge amounts on temple construction when basic infrastructure is lacking in many parts of MP. But yes, this temple will be an asset for religious tourism. Mixed feelings honestly.
