Interesting timing given the geopolitical tensions in the Indo-Pacific. I hope both sides are working on concrete interoperability standards, not just symbolic gestures. But honestly, the bureaucratic hurdles in Indian defence procurement are legendary—let's see if this leads to actual hardware deals.
Meeting with PACAF commander is significant. Air power is crucial in any future conflict, and our IAF's experience with diverse platforms makes us good partners. But I hope we're not neglecting our own indigenous programs like AMCA and Tejas Mk2. Strategic autonomy first, alignment second. 🇮🇳 ✈️
Meanwhile, our parliament can't function for days due to disruptions. Defence deals are important, but what about our internal security? Inflation, unemployment... The US partnership is fine, but let's not forget the common soldier needs better equipment and our citizens need a stable economy. Just saying. 🤷♂️
Positive step for regional stability. The US is a reliable partner, and these joint exercises help our forces learn best practices. But I hope India is also deepening ties with other partners like France, Japan, and Australia. Diversification is key—don't put all eggs in one basket. Strategic hedging is smart diplomacy.
As someone who follows defence closely, this is routine but necessary. The real test will be when we see joint production of jet engines or transfer of critical technologies like AESA radars. For now, it's just another meeting. The MoD loves issuing press releases—show me the contracts signed!
