Devendra Fadnavis, Suresh Gopi hold road shows in Keralam ahead of Assembly elections

Maharashtra CM Fadnavis and Union Minister Suresh Gopi hold roadshows in Kerala. PM Modi addresses workers, predicts a political shift in the state ahead of April 9 polls.

"It is evident that this time, Keralam is not just choosing a new government, but also a new system. - Prime Minister Narendra Modi"

Ernakulam, April 2

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday held a roadshow in support of NDA candidate Anjali Nair in the Thrippunithura Assembly constituency, intensifying the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance's campaign ahead of the Keralam Assembly polls.

Fadnavis, along with Nair, was seen greeting supporters and party workers as the roadshow passed through key areas of the constituency, with supporters turning out in large numbers.

In a similar show of strength, Union Minister and BJP MP Suresh Gopi held a roadshow in the Dharmadam constituency of Kannur, engaging with voters during the ongoing election campaign.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that Keralam is not just choosing a "new government" but also a "new system," signalling what he described as a significant political shift in the state.

Addressing BJP booth workers virtually under the 'Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot Samvad' programme via the NaMo App, PM Modi said, "It is evident that this time, Keralam is not just choosing a new government, but also a new system. In this election, there is a wave of support for the BJP-NDA."

He said the political dynamics in the state are changing, claiming that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) have shifted focus towards targeting the BJP. "Thiruvananthapuram has set a new precedent... now both are focusing their attacks on the BJP rather than on each other," he said.

PM Modi further alleged that the LDF and UDF are "using fundamentalist forces to divide society" and exploiting faith, while also accusing them of corruption and financial mismanagement.

Urging party workers to strengthen outreach, he said, "You should visit every household... ask people to grant just five years to the BJP-NDA." Calling party workers the backbone of the campaign, he added, "To me, you are Modi. Every Karyakarta in Keralam is Modi."

Polling for the 140-member Keralam Legislative Assembly will be held on April 9, with counting scheduled for May 4.

Interesting to see a Maharashtra CM campaigning in Kerala. Shows the BJP's national strategy. But I hope the focus remains on local issues like infrastructure and jobs, not just national politics. 🤔

As a Keralite, I appreciate the effort, but outsiders coming for roadshows feels a bit imposed. Our politics is complex. The "new system" PM Modi talks about must respect Kerala's unique social fabric and not just mimic other states.

Suresh Gopi is a popular face in Kerala, so his roadshow makes sense. But Fadnavis? Not sure how much connect he has. Anyway, high voltage campaigning is on! Election season is always exciting. 🎉

PM Modi saying every karyakarta is Modi is a powerful message for party workers. It shows the importance of ground-level work. But the accusation about LDF/UDF using fundamentalist forces is a serious charge that needs proof, not just rhetoric.

The claim that both fronts are now targeting BJP instead of each other is telling. It suggests BJP is becoming a credible third force. Kerala politics might be in for a realignment. Interesting times ahead.
