New Delhi, April 24

Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on Friday called upon students to become true enablers of change in an era of rapid digital transformation.

Addressing the Annual Day and Prize Distribution Function at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Delhi University, T.S. Sandhu said, "In today's era of rapid digital transformation, I encourage students to become true enablers of change. While information technology offers immense potential to create meaningful impact, innovation must always be guided by strong values."

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said, "Delighted to be part of the Annual Day and Prize Distribution Function at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Delhi University. An institution is more than just a place of learning -- it is a reflection of values, discipline, and the aspirations of its students."

"Rooted in the timeless legacy of seva, courage, resilience, and compassion, such institutions play a vital role in shaping not just intellect, but character," he said.

"Heartfelt congratulations to the leadership, faculty, and all the award winners. Wishing you continued success as you move forward with conviction and purpose, contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of #ViksitBharat and #ViksitDelhi," Sandhu added.

On Thursday, the Lieutenant Governor addressed the 100th Annual Day celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), reminding students that education must go beyond academics to "foster character, creativity and critical thinking".

"The strength of any institution lies in its people. The faculty, with their scholarship and dedication, have played a critical role in maintaining academic standards," he said.

He said institutions of higher education must not only impart knowledge but also cultivate the ability to think creatively, adapt to change, and act with integrity.

"The linkage between knowledge and practice becomes particularly important in fields such as commerce and economics, where theory must constantly engage with evolving realities," he said.

"In recent years, we have seen new opportunities emerge in areas such as digital finance, entrepreneurship, data analytics, and global trade. At the same time, complex challenges are confronting the world today," he said.

Preparing students to navigate this environment requires a combination of academic depth, practical exposure, and ethical grounding, he added.

Finally, some recognition for DU colleges! Khalsa College has been quietly producing great students for years. L-G sahab's emphasis on 'values and discipline' is spot on - we need more character-building in education today. 👏

Good to see leaders engaging with students beyond just ribbon-cutting ceremonies. The L-G correctly pointed out that education must go beyond academics. But I'd like to know: what specific initiatives is his office planning to bridge theory and practice in digital fields? Words are easy, action is harder.

"Viksit Bharat" again - it's everywhere! But what does that mean for students beyond slogans? I hope the L-G discusses concrete digital literacy programs, startup support, or scholarships for tech education. Otherwise, these convocation speeches sound same everywhere 😅

The part about "innovation guided by values" really resonates. We're seeing too many tech solutions without ethical framework - from data misuse to algorithmic bias. Indian students need to learn both Python and empathy! ✨

Khalsa College is known for its strong Sikh ethos of community service. I'm glad the L-G acknowledged that. But let's not forget many DU students are still struggling with ancient infrastructure, unpaid internships, and outdated curriculum. Digital transformation starts with fixing the basics first!
