Mumbai, July 4

Music reality show, 'Indian Idol' celebrated its landmark 75th episode, the Diamond Jubilee special with a heartwarming reunion, of Season 1's Abhijeet Sawant and Amit Sana, that took everyone back to where it all began.

After 22 years, the show's beloved first-season finalists, Abhijeet Sawant and Amit Sana, reunited on the Indian Idol stage, recreating the magic that made them household names.

Talking about appearing on the show after two decades, Abhijeet said, "Winning the very first season of Indian Idol changed my life in ways I could never have imagined. Overnight, I went from chasing a dream to living it, and the love I received from audiences across the country gave me an identity that I will always cherish."

He added, "Coming back for the Diamond Jubilee celebration feels deeply emotional because this stage is where it all began for me. Seeing familiar faces, reliving those unforgettable memories, and watching a new generation of talented singers create their own journeys reminds me of how timeless Indian Idol truly is. No matter how many years pass, this show will always be a part of who I am, and being part of this milestone celebration is a privilege I'll always be grateful for."

At the request of judge *Vishal Dadlani*, Abhijeet Sawant performed his iconic song 'Mohabbatein Lutaunga,' instantly transporting everyone to the early days of Indian Idol.

Amit Sana joined him on stage, the nostalgic performance turned into one of the most memorable moments of the Diamond Jubilee episode.

Reflecting on his unforgettable journey, Amit Sana shared, "Jab main iss competition ke liye aa raha tha, I had zero idea. Phir jab yahan aaya, uss samay maine Sonu ji ko dekha, Farah ji ko dekha, Anu ji ko dekha. Ek chhote sheher ka ladka tha main. Sirf main hi nahi, Aditi Paul, Prajakta aur bahut saare contestants bhi bilkul raw aaye the. Uss waqt hum mein se kisi ko bhi nahi pata tha ki 22 saal baad hum phir se Indian Idol ke isi stage par khade honge. It's a very big thing."

(When I came for this competition, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. Then, when I arrived here, I saw Sonu ji, Farah ji and Anu ji. I was just a boy from a small town. Not just me, but Aditi Paul, Prajakta and many other contestants had also come here completely raw. At that time, none of us could have imagined that 22 years later, we would once again be standing on the very same Indian Idol stage. It's a very big thing)

Moved by the reunion, Vishal Dadlani said, "22 saal baad aap Indian Idol ke stage par saath ho. Literally, it's a moment in time, unbelievable! Kya nazrana hai unreal! Ye Diamond Jubilee sahi maamle mein abhi hui hai. Woh waqt, woh lamha jo aapne logon ke zehan mein banaya hai, it's unforgettable. Kitni cheezein badal gayi hain India ka music scene badal gaya, television badal gaya, aur singer ka khud par jo confidence tha ki hum star ban sakte hain, woh aap logon ne badla. You were there in that moment, and you are here today. It's incredible."

(After 22 years, all of you are together again on the Indian Idol stage. Literally, it's a moment in time, unbelievable! What an incredible tribute this is! This truly feels like a Diamond Jubilee celebration. The memories and the moment you created in people's minds are unforgettable. So much has changed, the Indian music scene has changed, television has changed, and even the confidence singers have today that they can become stars is something you helped shape. You were there at that defining moment, and you are here again today. It's incredible)

For the uninitiated, when 'Indian Idol' debuted in 2004-05, it sparked a nationwide phenomenon unlike anything Indian television had witnessed before, in the reality show space. The inaugural season turned contestants such as Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana, Rahul Vaidya, Prajakta Shukre into overnight celebrities.

Rahul, who was just 18 when he participated in the show, reportedly received numerous marriage proposals from admirers.

Abhijeet had emerged as the winner and went on to release his debut album, 'Aapka... Abhijeet Sawant', featuring the chartbuster 'Mohabbatein Lutaunga'.

The season also left behind several unforgettable musical memories. One of its most iconic montages featured the contestants on the emotional song 'Hum Rahe Ya Na Rahe Kal, Yaad Aayenge Yeh Pal', sung by the late KK.

Honestly, I feel the show hasn't been the same since the original judges left. But this reunion was pure gold. Amit Sana's humble words about being a 'chhote sheher ka ladka' really hit home—he represented millions of us with big dreams. Vishal Dadlani's tribute was spot on. Miss those raw, real contestants though. 🙌

I remember crying to 'Hum Rahe Ya Na Rahe Kal' back then—KK's voice was magical. And now seeing them all grown up, it's a beautiful full circle moment. Indian Idol gave us so many amazing artists. Abhijeet and Amit are legends, no doubt. Keep up the great work, team! 🌟

As someone who moved to India from the US, I never fully understood the hype around Indian Idol until I watched this episode. The raw emotion and the cultural phenomenon it created is incredible. Abhijeet's story of going from a dreamer to a star is universal. Really touching stuff. 🤝

I must admit, the later seasons feel a bit overproduced with too much drama. But this Diamond Jubilee episode reminded me why I fell in love with the show in the first place—real talent, no gimmicks. Abhijeet and Amit's performance was a masterclass. Hope the producers take notes and bring back the essence of Season 1! 👏
