Chennai, April 2
Well known producer, actor and singer S P B Charan, who is also the son of one of India's greatest singers, the legendary S P Balasubrahmanyam, has now penned a note of gratitude to SAMAM for honouring his dad by unveiling a statue of his dad and inaugurating his memorial in Palakkad, Kerala.
Taking to his Instagram page to pen a post of gratitude, the well known producer and actor wrote, "Legends came together... for one legend. Appa's statue unveiling & SPB Memorial inauguration in Palakkad - a moment we will cherish forever (folded hands image). 'Some voices never fade... they become eternal.' Yesterday was not just an event... it was a moment our family will carry forever."
SPB Charan further said, "In Palakkad, Appa's statue was unveiled by Padma Shri M M Keeravani, and the SPB Memorial Park was inaugurated by Padma Bhushan K S Chithra and Padma Shri Hariharan. Seeing thousands gather with love, respect, and emotion... it truly felt like Appa is still living through every heart he touched."

Thank you to the @samamofficially organisation and everyone who made this tribute possible. Also have to mention the great work of Sri. @unnikanayi shilpi."

Heartwarming to see this. His voice had a unique emotion that connected with everyone. Glad the memorial is in Palakkad – a beautiful place. Charan's note is so touching. SPB sir lives on through his songs, for sure.
A statue is nice, but I hope we also focus on preserving his legacy for future generations. Are there plans for a museum with his recordings, awards, and personal artifacts? That would be a more interactive tribute.
Wow, what an event! The who's who of Indian music were there. It's amazing to see Vijay Yesudas, son of another legend, organizing this. Shows the camaraderie among these musical families. SPB's voice is truly eternal. ❤️
As someone who discovered Indian cinema later in life, SPB's voice was my gateway. The sheer range, from romantic melodies to energetic numbers, is unmatched. A global legend deservedly honoured.
Emotional read. "Appa may be missed every day... but yesterday reminded us - he will never be forgotten." This line hit hard. His songs are played in every Tamil and Telugu household daily. The memorial park will be a place of pilgrimage for music lovers.
