Noida, Nov 22: A 26-year-old driver was shot dead and robbed of his company car by unidentified assailants early Saturday, police said.
"Kailash Mehta, a driver with a private firm in Delhi was returning to New Friends Colony after dropping the company's employees at Noida at about 12.45 a.m. Saturday, when he was intercepted by a group of assailants near the sector 37 crossing," Station Officer of the sector 37 police station Anil Samania said.
"The assailants stopped the car and threatened him with a pistol. When he resisted, they shot him twice and took away the Hyundai Santro car he was driving," Samania said.
The police was informed about the incident by a passerby. Mehta was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The body has been sent for an autopsy. Mehta, a resident of Faridabad, is survived by his wife and two daughters.
