Imphal, Nov 22 : Altogether five militants were shot dead by a joint team of police and troops in separate encounters last midnight.
Police said a combined force of Imphal West police and troops of Assam Rifles gunned down two militants here at Mayang.
In another incident, Imphal East police and troops of Assam Rifles shot dead three militants at Nongbren, Lamlai, Imphal East.
The bodies were yet not identified. They had been kept at the morgue of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences for identification and post mortem, police added.
