Chidambaram leaked Liberhan report: Swaraj
New Delhi, Nov 24 : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj Tuesday alleged that Home Minister P Chidambaram has 'leaked' the Justice Liberhan report on the Babri Masjid demolition to media.
The report has termed former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee as a "pseudo-moderate”, and have indicted 68 politicians including Bal Thackeray, Pramod Mahajan, Uma Bharati, L K Advani and Kalyan Singh.
“Chidambaram has leaked the report. The charges are simply being leveled against BJP,” Swaraj said here.
BJP leader Rajnath Singh echoed Swaraj and said the Home Minister should take the responsibility of the ‘leakage’.
“Who leaked the report? There should be a probe into the leaking of the Liberhan Commission report. The Home Minister should take moral responsibility for the leak. Report into the leak must be finalised before the Winter session,” Singh told reporters.
The indicted senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi also slammed Chidambaram and said he should take the responsibility of making the report public.
The English version of the report tabled Tuesday in Parliament after a media leak said Vajpayee and L K Advani knew of the Sang Parivar designs on the demolition, national TV channels in possession of the copies said.
The government uploaded the 900-page Liberhan Commission report and the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the Parliament web site.
Parliament witnessed chaos on Monday after an Indian Express report said Vajpayee, leader of Opposition L K Advani and former BJP president Murli Manohar Joshi have been indicted by the Justice Liberhan Commission, probing the Babri Masjid demolition.
The government vehemently denied that the report was leaked to media from their side.
