Three swine flu deaths take India's toll to 484
New Delhi, Nov 7 : Three swine flu deaths, including two in Kerala, were reported Saturday, taking the toll due to Influenza A (H1N1) virus in India to 484, health authorities said here.
At least 66 new cases were reported in the country, taking the total number of people affected with the flu to 14,406.
Of the fresh cases reported, 18 were from the national capital. With these, the total number of people affected with the flu have gone up to 3,592 - the second highest in the country.
Apart from the two deaths reported from Kerala, one death occurred in Punjab. The death toll in Kerala has risen to 20.
In Punjab, two people have succumbed to the contagious virus so far.
"Till date, samples of 75,822 people have been tested for Influenza A (H1N1) in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 14,406 of them have been found positive," a statement issued here said.
Maharashtra tops the list of deaths and swine flu cases in the country.
While 206 people have died in Maharashtra since the first death occurred in Pune Aug 3, over 3,700 people have tested positive for the virus.
New cases were also reported from Tamil Nadu (11), Maharashtra (13), Kerala (9), Karnataka (3) and Gujarat (2).
