Kannur set for Assembly bypoll
Kannur, Nov 6 : All arrangements are in place for free and fair conduct of by-elections to the Kannur Assembly Constituency tomorrow.
As many as 2,000 police personnel, including three companies of Central Paramilitary Forces, had been posted in different parts of the constituency, District Electoral Officer and district Collector P B Saleem told reporters here today.
At least ten police personnel and two CISF personnel would be deployed in each of the 129 booths.
Apart from two Special Officers of the Election Commission, more than 110 micro observers and 1,500 election officers from nearby districts had been deployed.
A total ten candidates, including M V Jayarajan (LDF), A P Abdulla Kutty (UDF), K Ranjith (BJP) and Abdul Majeed Faizy (SDPI) are in the fray.
There were 1,33,326 voters, including 72,959 women.
