Headley plot: Pakistani link obvious: Chidambaram

Hyderabad Nov 6 : Pakistani link to David Coleman Headley, who was nabbed by the US investigation agency for plotting terror strikes in India at the behest of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), is 'obvious', Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said today.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Chidambaram said, ''Two or more people have been arrested in Pakistan on the advice of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Headley has visited Pakistan a number of times in the past.'' Asked whether there were any inputs on Pakistani link to the diabolic plot to attack the prestigious National Defence College in New Delhi, for which, Headley and Pakistan-born Canada citizen Tahawwur Hussain Rana were arrested, Mr Chidambaram said, ''I was informed by the FBI on this.'' Describing Indian Mujahideen, a frontal organisation of the LeT in the country, as a ''virtual organisation'', the Minister said a lot of people claimed to be members of the IM. ''A lot of them have been arrested. We will continue to arrest a lot more,'' he added.

Asked if there were intelligence reports on possible terrorist attacks on any vital installations in the country, he urged mediapersons not to create panic.

''The security agencies are on a constant vigil to thwart any attack by terrorists. It is not proper to tell more publicly,'' he added.
