Rebel legislators threaten to resign in Karnataka

Bangalore, Nov 6 : In a desperate attempt to find a way out of the political crisis dogging the BJP government in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today ordered the transfer of his Principal Secretary.

However this seemed to in no way appease his detractors led by the Reddy brothers, who remained relentless in their demand of seeking the ouster of the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, mounting the pressure on the central leadership, an unknown number of rebellious legislators today sent their resignation letter to their leader and Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy, asking him to submit it to the Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shetter who is also camping in Delhi. The Speaker has also joined the rebel ranks.

The Chief Minister transferred Mr V P Baligar, whose replacement was one of the major demands of the rebels, and appointed him as the new Principal Secretary, Department of Industries. The rebels are up in arms against the officer as well as Rural Development Minister Shoba Karandlaje, accusing them of interfering in other ministry matters.
