Congress denies its hand behind IT raids against Koda
New Delhi, Nov 4 : The Congress today denied the allegation that it was behind the 'harassment' of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda through IT raids early this week to 'tarnish' his image ahead of the Assembly elections in the state.
''There is no basis in the allegation. It is totally unfounded.
The Congress has nothing to do with it,'' AICC Spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told mediapersons, while pointing out that, ''We don't look at the issue politically. It is not a political issue. It is a question of probity in public life.'' He said the stand of the Congress against corruption was very clear. The Congress always wanted transparency and accountability in public life and zero tolerance towards corruption.
''If somebody has done anything against the trust of the people, he will have to undergo public scrutiny.'' When his attention was drawn to Congress support to Koda government a few years ago, Mr Ahmed said the party supported him from outside only to ensure a stable government for the development of Jharkhand.
Asked about the Congress stand vis-a-vis the allegations against Communications Minister A Raja in the spectrum allocation scam, he said the name of Mr Raja did not figure in any of the documents of the CBI.
