Dell aims to make India IT literate
Pune, Nov 4 : IT major Dell India today said it was now focusing on making India computer literate to enable the country to keep up with the new generation globally.
Addressing mediapersons here, General Manager for Public Sector (Asia-Pacific) and Managing Director, ANZ, Dell, Joe Kremer said that with challenges like availability of teachers and connectivity including standardization of content, there is an increasing need to prepare the education sector with adequate technological tools.
''As per the needs of the students, it is important that we transform the learning environment to digital age and pace up with the new generation globally,'' Mr Kremer said.
''Human resources development minister Kapil Sibal is strongly in favour of allowing foreign direct investment in Indian Education sector. The ministry seeks operation and maintainance to foreign education providers and prevention of dissemination of sub-standard education to the student,'' he said.
''Laptops and netbooks help students in problem solving and critical thinking skills said, General Manager for Public, Dell India. It would also be beneficial for students to have variety of information sources available at their fingertips for any class assignments,'' he said, adding that since Pune is an education hub it has become an important market for Dell.
