Ambani Gas row: Justice Reddy replaces Justice Raveendran
New Delhi, Nov 4 : Justice B Sudarshan Reddy will replace Justice R V Raveendran on the Supreme Court bench hearing the gas dispute between the Ambani brothers.
The new bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices B Sudarshan Reddy and P Sathasivam will start hearing the case afresh from tomorrow.
This morning, Justice Raveendran recused himself from the bench since his daughter is employed in a Bangalore-based law firm, which have been giving legal advice to Mukesh Ambani's company RIL citing conflict of interest as the reason for his withdrawal from the bench.
Senior counsel Harish Salve had already argued for almost three weeks on behalf of RIL and the bench will have to hear the entire case afresh.
Justice Raveendran had also announced on day-1 that he was having shares in both RIL and RNRL, and if anybody had any objections he was prepared to withdraw from the bench.
Since nobody objected, Justice Raveendran continued to hear the case. Anil Ambani's RNRL is being represented by former Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani.
