Petition against Rahul Gandhi
Kochi, Nov 3: A petition seeking sanction for initiating contempt of court proceedings against AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has been filed before the Advocate General here today.
The petition filed by C Krishnakumar, president of BJP Palakkad Unit, also sought to initiate contempt proceedings against the Principals of Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, Maharaja's College, Ernakulam and Farooq College, Kozhikode.
The petitioner alleged Mr Gandhi, on his visit to the state on October seven, interacted with students of the three colleges.
Though the interactions were termed non-political, the subsequent events proved Mr Gandhi's intention was to ask the students to join the Students' Wing of the Congress Party.
The petitioner alleged this was in total violation of the Kerala High Court decision banning political activity in educational institutions.
The petitioner also produced news items published in two dailies to the AG. The petition would be considered later.
