Task force to attract Bollywood to Meghalaya
Shillong, Nov 3 : Meghalaya Chief Minister DD Lapang has decided to constitute a task force to attract Bollywood to the state.
''I have impressed upon the film producers and makers about Meghalaya’s picturesque scenic beauty as a shooting location,'' he told reporters.
The chief minister had participated in the ongoing 11th Mumbai Film Festival to woo Bollywood and eminent film-makers to shoot in the abode of clouds, Meghalaya.
''I interacted with prominent film-makers Javed Akthar, Yash Chopra, Shyam Benegal, Shabana Azmi and Karan Johar. They had assured me to help Meghalaya become the Bollywood destination,'' Mr Lapang said.
He said a task force which will include eminent filmmakers, actors and other personalities would soon be constituted to provide single window facility to film producers.
''I have asked Yash Chopra to be the co-chairman and Shyam Benegal and Shabana Azmi to be members of the task force which would also promote tourism by shooting films in the state,'' Mr Lapang said.
