Yash Chopra recieves FIAPF award for outstanding achievement
New Delhi, Nov 3 : Close on the heels of honours at the Pusan International Film Festival and the National Awards, Bollywood's 'Baadshah Of Romance' Yash Chopra has been awarded the FIAPF award for outstanding achievement in film making at the Annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the region's highest accolade in films.
The award, announced last year on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, on November 11, was conferred this weekend on the veteran Mumbai filmmaker by the Director General of the FIAPF, Benoit Ginisty who flew to Mumbai last week to honour Yash Chopra, who unfortunately could not attend the award ceremony last year.
The FIAPF-Federation Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) based in Paris, created in 1933, is an organisation composed with 31 member associations from 25 of the leading audio-visual production countries. FIAPF is also incharge of supervising international film festivals, including some of the world's most important ones.
At the award ceremony last year, president of FIAPF, Andres Vincente Gomez, described Mr Chopra as "a legend in Hindi cinema who has played a seminal role in making Indian films more popular world over." The award is the latest in the line of honours for the veteran filmmaker who last month received the Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award at the Pusan International Film Festival in Korea.
Last month he also received an award from President Pratibha Patil at the National Film Awards, where Yashraj Films’ ‘Chak De India’ got an award for Best Film providing wholesome family entertainment.
