INLD alleges horse trading by Congress, approaches Governor

Chandigarh, Oct 23 : Alleging 'horse trading' by the ruling Congress, which fell six short of a simple majority in the Assembly elections in Haryana, the oppposition Indian National Lok Dal has urged the state Governor not to invite that party to form government in the state.

INLD supremo and former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala today said he had sent a letter to Governor Jagannath Pahadia last night, drawing his attention to the alleged efforts by the Congress to win the support of Independents with the help of money and muscle power.

''The people of Haryana have rejected the Congress and its policies and we have requested the Governor not to invite that party to form the next government in the state ,'' he said while talking to reporters here before leaving for Delhi today.

Mr Chautala asserted that he would not allow the Congress to form the government in the state by way of ''horse trading.'' Even if the ruling party somehow managed to cobble together a government by ''purchasing'' MLAs , the INLD would not allow such a government to run on the floor of the Assembly, he added.
