Etihaad Airways flight makes unscheduled landing
Chennai, Oct 18: A Kuala Lumpur-bound Etihaad Airways made an unscheduled landing at the international airport here today as one of the passengers suffered severe heart attack.
According to airport sources, when the flight from Abu Dhabi was mid air Ismail (55), a United Arab Amirate (UAE)-based businessman, suffered severe heart attack at round 0900 hrs.
He complained to air hostesses who in turn informed pilots.
Pilots sought permission from the Air Traffic Controller (ATC), Chennai, to land the flight at the airport as they found it nearer.
ATC Chennai asked ATC Delhi which on humanitarian ground granted permission to land the flight at the airport. The flight landed at 0920 hrs and the passenger was given emergency visa.
Mr Ismail was rushed to a private hospital in Pallavaram.
The flight then took off at 1100 hrs for its destination.
