Kolkata, Sept 19 : Popular Bengali rock band Fossils is all set to be the first of its kind to perform at the UK this Durga Puja.
Organised by Candid Communications and London Sharodotsav, the band will be performing at Ealing Town Hall (Sept 26), Tooting in South London (Sept 27) and Cardiff (Sept 28).
'This is the first time we are going to perform in London…we hope we can rock not only the NRIs, but also the Londoners,' said Rupam Islam, the lead singer of the band.
'This is the tenth year of Fossils and this is the best possible celebration we can have.Anyone can relate to the kind of music we make…so we are really looking forward for the audience reaction, especially because we heard that we are the first Bangla rock band to be performing at the UK,' he added.
A Candid Communications spokesperson said they are expecting a crowd of 7,000 at the performances.
Rupam was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of their fifth album 'Fossils 3'.
'After Fossils (2002) and Fossils 2 (2004), we decided to cut this third album. But in-between, there were Mission F in 2006 and Aupodartho in 2007. So this album got delayed. This is a concept album…we have maintained our rock genre, but done it in a different way,' Rupam said.
The album, released by Asha Audio Company, consists of 14 tracks and in its 56 minutes run, it unfolds a story which is given as a graphic novel in the 24-page inlay card.
All instruments played in the album have been recorded live without any programming.
