Dehradun, Jan 31 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced Uttarakhand Technical University would be named after Famous physicist and former Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh head Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya).

He was speaking at a function organised on the birth anniversary of Rajju Bhaiya at Shyamlal Saraswati college, Shikarpur in Bulandshahar.

Dr Nishank hailed Prof Rajendra as a great scientist as well as a social activist and nationalist who had actively participated in the country's freedom struggle.

Prof Singh was a great champion of the cause of the underprivileged and supporter of ''swadeshi'' (indigenous goods) to lead the nation towards self-reliance.

The Chief minister said that his government had taken steps to strengthen the village economy by implementing Atal Adarsh Gram Yojna, rural tourism and development of herbal, medicinal, floriculture and horticulture sector along with traditional agriculture to make rural economy self-reliant.

Those present at the occasion included RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Vidya Bharati Akhil bharatiya education institute president Brahmadev Bharma (bhaiji) among others. (UNI)
