Upset family seeks to ban Nelson Mandela's grandson from funeral

London, Dec. 09 : Former South African President Nelson Mandela's grandson might face a ban on attending his funeral following months-long bitter family feud.

Mandla Mandela was earlier in-charge of arranging one of the world's biggest funerals, but those upset with him in the family have said that he is "not welcome" to the funeral, the Daily Star reports.

According to the report, the family even argued about where Mandela should be buried.

Mandla was chosen by his grandfather to inherit his traditional Thembu tribal chieftaincy seven years ago, but some of the family members think that he has brought them shame and they have cut him off from the family.

Mandla was moved to court by 15 family members for moving the graves of three of Mandela's children from their home village of Qunu in the Eastern Cape to land he owned in nearby Mvezo.

He has also been accused of selling TV rights to the funeral for 250,000 pounds, the report added.

Mandela, aged 95, died last Thursday at his home in Johannesburg, and now his family is fighting over who should run the 110 companies worth 10 million pounds and take lucrative deals that could be worth billions.

Some of his children might challenge his will, claiming it was made when his mental faculties were in decline, the report added.

A state funeral for the anti-apartheid hero will be held next Sunday and the heads of state and royalty are expected to attend it.
