Election Commission issues show cause notice to Kejriwal

New Delhi, Dec 7 : The Delhi State Election Commission has issued a show cause notice to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal for alleged financial irregularities during the recently held state assembly polls. "The show cause notice was issued on Thursday by the concerned Returning Officer to Kejriwal stating that expenses shown by him in connection with a musical event held at Jantar Mantar does not match with the expenses recorded by the Delhi EC in its shadow register," a senior election official was quoted as saying by CNN-IBN.

"According to the EC official, Kejriwal has shown an expenditure of Rs 3 lakh on its candidate's account as contrary to the record maintain by the shadow expenditure register which shows the figure as Rs 16 lakh," reported the news channel.

Kejriwal was to reply to the Election Commission notice on Friday but he sought more time as he is presently out of town.
