Arun Jaitley launches Twitter account

New Delhi, Dec 5 : BJP leader Arun Jaitley Thursday launched his Twitter account, joining other senior party functionaries who are on the social networking and microblogging site.

"It gives me great pleasure to join this vibrant forum for sharing my views and interacting with you all," Jaitley tweeted soon after setting up his account.

According to a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) release, Jaitley's twitter account is:

Jaitley, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, is already on the social media Facebook and is posting his and the party's views on various issues on his account. He also has a website.

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, party chief Rajnath Singh and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj are among party leaders who are active on Twitter.

Senior party leader L.K. Advani posts regularly on his website.

BJP leaders have increasingly taken to social media which is getting popular due to growing internet penetration in the country.
